Entry requirements

This programme is designed to attract students from a wide range of backgrounds, disciplines and nationalities. Applicants are welcome from any academic discipline. Admission is normally open to those with:

  • a minimum of a second-class honours degree
  • or equivalent overseas degree from a recognised institution
  • or equivalent professional or other qualification.

Those who do not meet any of the above criteria may be eligible for entry, provided they have compensatory work experience. This should include, in particular, further professional training and accreditation and the demonstration of appropriate career development. Please contact our Admissions team (admissions@brookes.ac.uk) for further information.

Entry will also be subject to two satisfactory references (one of these must be an academic reference).

English language requirements

If English is not your first language you will need to satisfy the university's English language requirements:

  • IELTS minimum 6.0 (with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing and 5.5 in listening and speaking).
  • if you have completed your undergraduate degree in the UK (at least one full year of study) you will automatically meet our English language requirements

Course content

On our MSc International Events Management you will gain work place experience and interact with practitioners and academics.

You will build a strong foundation in events management and apply theory to practice by engaging in practical events management. Live case-studies and real event design and delivery allow you to experience an innovative and creative approach to your learning.

You will gain a wealth of knowledge including:

  • event design
  • planning
  • delivery
  • working with key stakeholders
  • the core principles of events marketing including digital marketing and marketing analysis
  • finance and accounting for business
  • leadership in an international context
  • decision-making skills to devise marketing plans and communications.

You can develop your potential to become a leader within the industry by working with our researchers to explore recent research and the challenges within the sector.

If you choose the sandwich mode, you can apply for a year's paid supervised work experience in an events marketing role.
