Applicants need to be working in art education in some capacity. It is preferable that candidates have a first degree in education or an art-related practice, although this can be negotiated according to individual circumstance. Applicants do not need Qualified Teacher Status.
Months of entry
Artist Teacher Practice is a Masters programme of continuing professional development for artist teachers. The course provides opportunities for those working within art education in any sector to review and develop their personal creative practice, supporting ongoing enquiry into the professional artist teacher identity, and balancing tensions between education and making. This is achieved by combining Master’s level educational research and academic study with visual arts creation and exhibiting. Making as research and learning within a community are vital in supporting students to become independent makers beyond the course, fostering diverse opportunities for both current students and alumni.
