Entry requirements

The normal entry requirement for MPhil or MPhil with the intention of transferring to a PhD (the route which most of our doctoral candidates take) is a first-class or upper second-class UK honours degree or equivalent. Applications also welcomed from those holding qualifications other than the above and will be considered on their merits and in relation to the nature and scope of the work proposed. The normal entry requirement for the degree of PhD is a recent master's degree in a discipline which is appropriate to the proposed research and which has included research training and a research project.

You will join a friendly and supportive environment in which research and scholarly activity is pursued with lively debate and intellectual stimulation. There is access to an outstanding resources centre housing one of the best collections of environmental statements in the UK.

Environmental Impact Assessment; Environmental Policy and Appraisal; Strategic Environmental Assessment; Socio-economic Impacts.

Information for international students

For applicants who do not have English as their first language, a: British O level, GCSE (grade A, B or C) in English Language; a TOEFL score of 650 or above (written test); or a British Council ELTS band 6 or 7 is necessary.
