Applicants must have a degree at 2:1 although a 2:2 will be considered and GCSE Grade C or above for English and Mathematics. You must have passed the literacy/numeracy skills tests and have experience of working with young people.

Media Studies stimulates an interest in and a sense of wonder about our world, this course develops a range of teaching styles appropriate to the delivery of Media Studies within the National Curriculum and GCSE/A Level specifications. Media impacts on our lives through different areas of influence political, cultural and economic, this course aims to produce dynamic, confident, and innovative teachers who are committed to developing life skills of analysing communicating findings and being imaginative and creative accessible for all.
To develop as a teacher, you will be learning about how pupils can engage positively with the media and how they can be helped to a better understanding of themselves and the world through the media. Furthermore, our PGCE Media Studies trainees take up ‘enhancements’ linked to other curriculum subjects e.g english, primary phase or Special Education Needs and Diversity.
We acknowledge that the trainees themselves are the most valuable resource on the course and we will be giving you the opportunity you to share your specialisms with the other trainees, and during this PGCE Media Studies course you will develop essential components of creativity and imagination such as determination, hard work, observing, thinking, experimenting, investigating, making and evaluation.
