Course content
This course is for those who want to professionalise and accelerate their career working within the outdoor sector. This include areas such as adventure tourism, outdoor education, outdoor learning, outdoor recreation, forest schools, summer camps, youth programmes, adventure racing, adventure sports coaching, national governing bodies, leisure facilities management, and outdoor retailers and manufacturers. The notion of an outdoor industry reflects the financial and commercial imperatives of organisations whether they are commercial, charitable, social enterprises, sole traders, voluntary organisations, NGOs or not-for-profit philanthropic organisations. The necessities of balancing and managing income, expenditure and growth are central to all operations.
The course is taught by experts across business administration and with real world outdoor industry experience, and covers the essential business concepts of leadership, marketing, finance, enterprise and entrepreneurship, emergent issues, strategic management, research methods and a final independent research project.
The course is designed to be taught in intensive blocks, 3 times a year, and studied part-time over 3 years allowing you to remain fully employed
