Entry requirements

We usually require a first or upper second class honours degree in History or another Humanities-related subject. A recognised equivalent from an accredited international institution is also accepted. Applications from mature students and those with qualifications or experience not listed in our standard entry requirements are welcomed and will be considered on an individual basis.

Course content

We offer a range of innovative Masters, taught by world-renowned academics. The choice of modules is vast, and offers you the chance to shape your MA to your interests. We have particular strengths in Cultural, Medieval and Renaissance, American and Middle Eastern history. Our varied range of modules covers everything from the history of emotions to modern British history.

If you want to tailor your degree to a specific area of interest, we offer the following intellectual pathways:

  • Pathway in American History
  • Pathway in Cultural History
  • Pathway in Medieval and Renaissance History
  • Pathway in Middle Eastern Studies

If you have a special area of interest, particularly if you are contemplating further study, you may wish to pursue your MA History by concentrating on that interest. The pathways provide you with the opportunity to engage more fully with your specialist area.
