You will need a primary qualification in dental surgery and satisfactory completion of two years? professional experience. For students whose first language is not English an IELTS band score of 7.0, a TOEFL score of at least 610 or an equivalent alternative qualification is required. The course is recognised by the relevant UK Specialist Advisory Committee as forming part of training leading to the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST).
Months of entry
The programme will provide clinical training (60 per cent), formal taught elements (25 per cent) and an opportunity to undertake research (15 per cent) in periodontology. It includes all aspects of periodontal care including surgical therapy and exposure to implant dentistry. Instruction will be by tutorials, lectures and
clinical demonstration, together with selflearning techniques. A major part of the course will be clinical periodontal care of patients under direct supervision.
