Entry requirements

For entry to the course you should be one of the following:
  • law graduate in any jurisdiction
  • lawyer admitted to practice in any jurisdiction
  • non-law graduate with substantial law-related work experience such as engineering contracts
  • legal administrator within a business.
An undergraduate degree in law or a related discipline (usually at honours level) is preferred however relevant experience in the oil and gas sector may be an acceptable alternative where relevant qualifications are lacking.
International students who do not meet our direct entry requirements for this course can gain additional entry points through our International College at Robert Gordon University.

The MSc/LLM Oil and Gas Law degree focuses on the main legal issues within today's oil and gas industry.
Our LLM Oil and Gas Law degree is suitable for those with legal qualifications or with considerable experience in the oil and gas industry.
The course provides the opportunity to critically assess and examine key legal issues in the oil and gas sector, both in the UK and leading areas.
On successful completion of the course you will be in a position to understand and deal with some of the main energy legal issues. You will also gain key employability, enterprise and transferable skills. It can also be studied by flexible distance learning allowing busy professionals to study at their own pace.

Information for international students

Postgraduate courses normally require an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all 4 components. Some of our courses require a different level of English. Please check our course pages for specific details. Test reports are valid for a period of 2 years and can be used as proof of English for admission if valid on the start date of your course.
