Course content

The online Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Data Management from Robert Gordon University is the first of its kind in the world and was developed in collaboration with Common Data Access Ltd (CDA). It presents Petroleum Data Management as a specialism within professional data and information management.

With the Graduate Certificate Petroleum Data Management you will explore data types, including: seismic and other remote sensing surveys, drilling and well data including MWD/LWD, wireline, well tests, core and samples and how they are used in decision-making. You will then situate these data types in their life cycles, from planning, though collection, management, use and archiving and preservation.

You will examine how data management services are designed and provided and explore how the management of these valuable business assets is governed.
