Course content

The Master of Music in Performance is built on the core of our MA programme (which is the standard postgraduate programme for all performers with an undergraduate degree or a recognised equivalent). In addition to the core elements of the MA (which are taken in full) students complete either a Concert Project or Research Project. Composers may choose either option during their programme of study. Performers select a pathway at entry leading to either the MMus (Concert Project) or MMus in Performance and Research (Research Project). The Project work is supported by a team of specialists and provides an opportunity for students to enhance their creative work through practically-oriented academic study and practice-led research. The Research Project is specifically designed for students who may wish to prepare applications for doctoral study, although students on the Concert Project pathway have also gone on to doctoral study.

The MMus is normally taken over two years although an intensive one year option is available subject to satisfactory assessment at audition and interview.
