Course content

The Royal Agricultural University is in partnership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), which fully accredits this one-year Masters degree.

Covering aspects of national real estate markets, the MSc in Real Estate provides you with the ability to evaluate real estate markets. This course will help to prepare for your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) to become a Chartered Surveyor.

Our graduates have gone on to pursue a wide range of careers within the commercial and urban real estate surveying profession, working for well-known organisations such as Savills, DTZ, Colliers International, Knight Frank, Strutt and Parker, Jones Lang LaSalle, and many more.


The course may be studied part-time over two years as a blended learning study programme based at Regent’s University London. The part-time course includes an international study visit.

You will engage with four case studies delivered in an interactive workshop format, followed by a Research Project based on a subject area of your choice. Assessment of each case study will be based on a written report and an oral examination. There are no unseen written examinations.

University staff, visiting practitioners and industry leaders, and site visits provide insight and guidance. Recent guest speakers include: Professor Barry Gilbertson, property expert and former Partner at PWC and Global President of RICS; Dr Angus McIntosh, Former Director of Research at JLL; Ms Joanne Moss, Barrister at Inner Temple, London; Mr Michael Newey, Chief Group executive of Broadland Housing Association and RICS President 2013-14; and Ms Henri Vuong (Director of Research and Market Information at INREV).


Studied over 18-24 months based at Regents University, London, students meet with tutors through face-to-face sessions at the start of the course, and once every four weeks throughout the taught element. These face-to-face sessions will be run over long weekends and comprise of workshops, tutorials and lectures.

Information for international students

If your first language is not English, we will accept the International English Language Test (IELTS) with a minimum overall score of 6.5 and no element below 5.5.
