We have remarkable research strengths across the historical breadth of English Literature with textual scholars, cultural and literary historians, theorists, working in the following areas: Medieval Studies; Shakespeare and Renaissance; 17th and 18th Century Literature and Culture; 19th Century Literature; 20th and 21st Century Literature and Theory. Additionally, and unique at Royal Holloway, is the growing school of creative writers and artists of both staff and students who work at the challenging interface between the creative and the critical, stimulating innovative reflection on practice and finding new readers and audiences through Creative Writing and Practice-based Research.
