Music: Composition pathway
Entry requirements
All applicants must provide an academic essay of 2,500 words on any musical topic.
In addition to the academic essay ALL applicants must provide a portfolio of compositions for the Composition pathway.
English language requirements
IELTS score of 6.5 with 6.5 in writing and no subscore below 5.5 for non-native English speaking applicants.

Course content
Offering a balance of broad-based study and specialist training, this MMus Music master’s course is designed to meet your needs as you develop your skills in composition, whether you wish to develop as a professional composer, or as a thorough grounding in advanced creative and collaborative skills that can be transferred across a wide range of careers.
You will come away well-versed and well-practiced in your chosen discipline of composition, verbally and technically fluent, fully conversant with a broad range of issues of concern in your field, and able to present your ideas across a wide range of media.
This degree is also available via the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) mode of study where students with ongoing professional careers take modules over a four or five-year period.
Please note that the ‘Composition’ pathway title is for study purposes only and won’t be reflected in your degree title upon graduating. You will graduate with MMus Music.
