Course content

The Institute for the Study of the Americas is a research institute co-ordinating work on the Americas. It has a very far-reaching seminar and conference programme, and publishes books and papers. It has a lively and growing doctoral programme.

Economics of Latin America; Latin American History; Latin American Politics; Latin American Sociology; Latin American Anthropology; Environmental Issues in Latin America.

Information for international students

All students whose first language is not English must be able to provide evidence that their written and spoken English language is adequate for postgraduate study. The University of London has been licensed to offer certificates to potential non-EU students under the UK Government's new immigration Points Based System.

Research students initially register for the MPhil. Students may transfer to the PhD after satisfactory progress after 1 year full-time. Normal PhD enrolment 3 years.
