Entry requirements

Normally an honours degree in a suitable subject. This should usually include some study of research methods and social theory. If English is not your first language, you need an IELTS score of at least 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills or equivalent. If you have suitable qualifications at masters level or work related research experience, you may be exempt from some modules.

Course content

Prepare for a career in research with a course designed for social work or social science graduates. You study a range of methods, supporting theories and ethical issues that equip you to work as a social researcher or move into a PhD. The dissertation you complete while studying may form the basis of a published academic paper.
