Normal requirements are at least a UK second class honours degree or equivalent in a related computing discipline If you do not meet the above but have significant appropriate experience, your application will be considered, provided that you satisfy the University that you are capable of responding to the challenge of postgraduate work. If your first language is not English, you will need to demonstrate that you are fluent enough to cope with the course. A minimum score of IELTS 6 or TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based) is normally required.
Months of entry
During the course we will train you to become a digital forensic investigator. You will be taught analytical and investigative skills using industrial standard tools and techniques in a state of the art digital forensic examination laboratory. The course will enhance your computer knowledge and your interpretation skills to achieve an expert status in digital forensic analysis. We have links with local and national police forces, private investigation companies and government organisations. Our staff are forensic practitioners and the knowledge and skills you will be taught in the course are of relevance to the industry and will allow you to competently prepare evidence for a court of law. During the course you will learn how to examine digital devices such as computer, mobile phone, satellite navigation systems in a forensically sound manner. You will also become an expert in file systems, all aspects of computer security and ethical hacking. You will use industry standard tools such as EnCase, FTK and XRY.
Throughout the course you will be invited to attend guest lectures delivering workshops and conducting seminars with the students. Our visiting tutors are forensic examiners form police forces and training organisation.
You will also have an opportunity in achieving industry recognised certification in EnCase, XRY and Certified Ethical hacking
Our purpose-built state of the art forensic analysis laboratory offers each student a unique experience in using their own digital examination kit and digital analysis software.
