Hold a UK honours degree (minimum 2.2). The Award Team will consider each application in order to assess their suitability to join the award. Experience in the sector is desirable.

Course content

The first of its kind in the UK, this unique Masters degree builds upon the established success and reputation of the University as the leading provider of advice related higher education awards. It has been developed in direct response to a survey of the educational needs of the advice sector in conjunction with our partners from the sector. Our teaching team all have considerable experience of working in the sector, including current membership of trustee boards and management within the industry.

The award focusses on the underpinning theories of social welfare law and policy and includes consideration of equality and human rights. It considers the theoretical underpinning of advice and enables students to analyse and critically reflect upon the relationship between social welfare and advice provision.
