Course content

Help the next generation learn about the world and environment with our Secondary Geography PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education). Here at Staffordshire University, we’ll help you reflect on your teaching and build your expertise. Through placements, you’ll become confident carrying out lessons in secondary schools.

Schools in the UK need geography teachers that are keen to share their expertise about different places, landscapes and processes.

We’ve designed this course to help you understand how to support KS3 and KS4 students. You’ll develop the skills you need to make sure young people in your class enjoy learning about our planet. And after you pass the course, you’ll be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This means you can apply for teaching roles across the country.

Throughout your training, you’ll get hands-on experience on placement, join professional studies sessions, and attend curriculum workshops.

From getting the most out of your induction, to tips on teaching your first lesson, your personal tutor will be there to support you every step of your PGCE journey.

On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: PGCE Secondary Geography
