Entry requirements

You will require at least a 2.2 honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject. There is also provision for admission that takes into account work experience if you have an undergraduate degree below a 2:2 honours level. If you do not have an undergraduate degree you must have significant relevant work (or other) experience, which has been assessed as appropriate by the Admissions Selectors. If you are an international student, you will need to demonstrate knowledge of the English language at IELTS overall 6.5 or Swansea University recognised equivalent.

This course is suitable for doctors, nurses, academic staff and other health professionals at all stages of their career (including trainees) with a leadership or management role or those aspiring to one.

This modular programme can be taken as a separate Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma as well as a full Master level qualification. It has been designed specifically for busy working professionals combining face to face contact days supplemented by online learning and tutor, mentor and peer support. The campus-based course is delivered in Swansea and Leicester.

The programme will provide students with leadership training with modules exploring:

  • PMLM10 Contemporary issues in health professions leadership (15 Credits)
  • PMLM11 Understanding organisations, systems and services (15 Credits)
  • PMLM12 Developing yourself as a leader and managing performance (30 Credits)
  • PMLM13 The learning organisations, teams and groups (15 Credits)
  • SHQM40 Social, cultural and economic context of health (15 Credits)
  • PMLM14 Developing leadership, innovation and change (30 Credits)

Additionally, students will be able to choose to complete a research based dissertation or a work based reflective portfolio.
