Course content
The course combines strategic, technical and professional skills aligned with current and emerging industry needs, including cyber security, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data-driven decision-making and digital transformation.
You develop a strong foundation in IT strategy and leadership, enabling you to align technology with organisational goals and manage complex digital change. Core technical modules provide practical and theoretical knowledge in cyber security, cloud computing, responsible AI, and big data business intelligence. A substantial master’s project enables you to apply your learning to a real-world or research-led problem.
If you are new to the subject, the course provides structured support to build knowledge progressively. Core modules introduce fundamental principles in computing, digital systems, and information technologies before advancing to more complex and applied topics. This helps you develop a strong technical foundation and the analytical skills needed for postgraduate study and careers in IT.
If you already have a degree in computing or a related subject, the course refreshes key knowledge before progressing to more advanced and industry-focused topics. This enables you to deepen your expertise, extend your technical capability, and engage critically with emerging technologies and strategic digital challenges.
This approach means all students develop the knowledge and skills expected at master’s level, while receiving the right level of support and challenge throughout the course.
This extended, full-time (including Advanced Practice) programme enhances the qualification by adding a vocational or research-based internship to the one-year programme. This is a great way to gain work experience and give your CV a competitive edge. A research internship provides the opportunity to develop analytical, team-working, research and academic skills by working alongside a research team in an academic setting. We guarantee a research internship, but cannot guarantee a vocational internship. We provide practical support and advice on how to find and secure vocational internship positions.
