The MA in English Studies prepares students for undertaking research in the discipline, but it is also popular with those who wish simply to broaden and deepen their critical engagement with literature and its contexts. The MA offers a number of pathways in addition to the generic one in English Studies; Postcolonial Literatures and Cultures; Modernism and After; and Contemporary Literature and Culture. On each pathway, you will study four units, each worth 30 credits, from a wide range of core, compulsory and optional units on offer. Core units are those taken by students across all pathways; compulsory units must be taken by students on certain pathways (but may be taken as options by others); and optional units may be selected from the full range on offer.
