Entry requirements

The Standard requirement for a Masters programme (either taught or research) is a Lower-Second UK Honours Degree, or international equivalent, in a relevant science or engineering discipline. For a Doctorate level programme (eg PhD) it is an Upper-Second UK Honours Degree, or international equivalent, in a relevant science or engineering discipline or a First Degree with an additional UK Masters Degree (or international equivalent).

Course content

The Paper Science research programmes are part of a dynamic research area within the school. We have close links with industry and much of our research impacts directly on current industry practice. Our academic team are highly rated within the paper science sector, and are regarded as experts in their field. Our research covers the influence of factors, such as recycling and process chemistry, on the physical properties of the sheet, and looks at ways to improve them. We also look at improving the efficiency of raw materials and energy in manufacturing processes.

Information for international students

Students whose first language is not English require a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or higher (with no sub test < 5.5), TOEFL 570 or higher with 5.0 in the TWE or CBTOEFL 230 or higher with 5.0 in the TWE.
