Entry requirements

An upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree in the Life Sciences or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.

If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.

Course content

A new integrated curriculum combining management and life science expertise to prepare you for a future in the biotechnology industry and bioscience enterprise. This programme is designed for students who intend to start and run enterprises in the life sciences sector.

This degree combines the expertise of the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, School of Management and School of Pharmacy to prepare you for a successful future in the healthcare industry. Students will be taught by experts across the three fields, many of whom have pioneered innovative discoveries in artificial intelligence, regenerative medicine, and neuroscience. Students will also study with world-renowned scientists and clinicians from Moorfields Eye Hospital, our strategic partner and one of the oldest eye hospitals in the world.

By studying this degree, you will:

  • Gain substantial research and analytical skills, and learn methodologies which support science and business entrepreneurship
  • Advance your knowledge of the ethical, legal and regulatory issues associated with bringing scientific advances to market
  • Develop the capacity to identify potential business opportunities arising from research in life sciences and related areas
  • Develop the ability to exploit entrepreneurial opportunities independently or within larger organisations.

The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, and class discussion. Students are given the opportunity to attend weekly lectures given by leading healthcare and medical professionals, global entrepreneurs and biotech innovators. Assessment is through coursework, presentations, examinations, and the dissertation.
