Course content

This Master's of Public Administration prepares the next generation of leaders and decision makers to tackle complex infrastructure challenges, from mitigating climate change and developing clean energy to expanding green infrastructures and improving integrated transport networks. Graduates gain the tools, practical skills and knowledge to develop robust infrastructure policies to align infrastructure investment with economic, social and environmental goals.

The demands placed on infrastructure systems to support population growth, improve living standards, mitigate and adapt to climate change and adapt to new technologies are vast. Policy development requires strategy and leadership to address these challenges, leveraging innovations and actively shaping social and economic transitions to improve public health, quality of life, environmental sustainability and economic prosperity. This practical programme offers experiential learning for skills needed in infrastructure policy making.

Students undertake a week-long scenario activity on the policy making process where they engage with external experts and UCL academics. Students go on to undertake a nine-month major project for a real-world client. Example policy problems include renewable energy sources, sustainable mobility, or emerging digital technologies.

Students will gain the opportunity to network with UCL STEaPP's broad range of international partners, expert staff and a diverse range of academics and professionals from across the department's MPA and doctoral programmes.
