Entry requirements

A degree with a grade of 2:2 or above in disciplines such as Early Childhood Studies, Childhood Studies, Education Studies, Psychology, Sociology, English, Mathematics, Dance, Drama, Performing Arts and Sports. In addition, you need to have GCSE's in English, Maths and Science at Grade C or above (prior to application) and pass the skills test in English and maths. Applicants must have experience of working with children, for example from placements or voluntary / paid work in schools. UCB standard English language requirement for Postgraduate study will apply (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).

Course content

All aspects of understanding children's learning and development in this area will be studied in order to prepare you to become a teacher in the Foundation Stage and Year One of the Primary phase.
On completion of the PGCE Early Years you will be able to teach as a qualified teacher within the Early Years sector in either Foundation Stage or Key Stage One. You may additionally be considered as having the knowledge skills and training to work in a Special School.
