To be accepted on this course, applicants will need a good undergraduate degree either in the field of the Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities and/or Leisure Studies. To be accepted onto the Postgraduate Diploma applicants require a degree or a Diploma in Higher Education or a Foundation Degree in a related field, together with at least two years substantial experience in a Youth and Community -orientated setting (or equivalent), with 'a bridging' module being available at Level 6.

This Masters degree has been designed to develop and enhance knowledge and professional competence for those who possess an undergraduate qualification in Youth and Community Work and/or a related field and who wish to gain a Masters degree level qualification within the sector. Specifically, this programme aims to critically evaluate and policy measures and professional practice in youth and community work and the Informal Education sector as a whole. As such, the programme explore issues of management and leadership of people in organisations working with young people and communities and provides opportunities for the development of transferable skills which will enable applicants to act effectively in complex and rapidly changing youth and community environment
