Candidates must have obtained at least a second class Honours degree or equivalent in a subject(s) related to that of the MSc in Applied Science programme. The number of places is limited and selection will be made on the basis of the candidate's performance in his/her primary degree. Bridging courses may be assigned as a pre-requisite depending on the background of the individual candidate.

Course contentThis MSc programme is available over one year (full-time) or one to two years (part-time) and consists of coursework and laboratory set experiments designed to provide skilled training in modern chemical methods of pharmaceutical analysis. While building on existing core analytical chemistry units, the emphasis will be on method selection, development and validation for pharmaceutical compounds, as required in quality control and trace drug analysis. In addition, training through research will be a significant element, through project work into advanced and novel methods of pharmaceutical analysis, either in the university or during an optional industrial placement.
