Candidates must have achieved an honours standard in an approved primary degree or possess such other qualifications as may be deemed suitable by the Head of Department, following consultation with the Departmental Graduate Studies Committee. All applications must also be approved by the relevant faculty. Course contentWhile allowing students the opportunity to specialise in any two of the three traditions, which comprise this wider area (i.e. Old, or Middle, or Renaissance English), the course also aims to achieve significant dialogues between all three traditions and also the wider interdisciplinary contexts of earlier literary production - Latin and vernacular European literatures, art, history, and music.
