Candidates should hold a degree in French (or in languages including French) of a suitable level of language skills, normally of 2.1 level. An interview and aptitude test may apply.

Course contentThe MA in Translation Studies is a one-year programme which will offer candidates training in the skills of the translation professions: translating documents, interpreting and terminology. The course will include analysis, documentation, revision skills for document translation; traductology theory and practice; socio-history of professional translation; terminology; introduction-level note-taking for consecutive interpreting; introduction-level simultaneous interpreting. Candidates will undertake supervised contact with potential employers and professional work experience The dissertation will involve research on an aspect of translation.
