Candidates will normally hold at least a Second Class Honours/Grade I primary degree (or equivalent) in philosophy. Students with degrees in cognate areas (such as social sciences, psychology, etc.) may be considered. Applicants who are not fully qualified may need to take a MA Qualifying Degree or Higher Diploma in Arts .

Course contentThe MA Philosophy helps students to advance their general philosophical education while at the same time giving them the opportunity to pursue their own philosophical interest.
Students choose two MA modules from a range of options, which are taught during October-December. They prepare a directed literature review, in preparation for their minor dissertation, in January-March. Finally, they write a minor dissertation on a subject of their choice during the period May-September.
