Course contentThe Sociology Department offers an innovative MA in the Sociology of Development and Globalisation (CKE56). This programme was launched in 1990 and grew out of a long standing interest in development issues within the Department. The importance and continuing relevance of an analysis of the global nature of our current world, at both the structural and cultural levels, is illustrated by the street confrontations over the World Trade Organisation's meetings and by the less volatile, but pervasive 'McDonaldisation' of culture and consumerism.
