Entry requirements

Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science (Ecological Assessment) must hold at least a second class Honours, Grade II degree in any area and be able to demonstrate considerable knowledge/experience in some aspect of ecological assessment; Or have reached an equivalent standard through completion of a relevant diploma or other qualification in Biological Sciences and be able to demonstrate considerable knowledge/experience in some aspect of ecological assessment. Bridging programmes may be a prerequisite, depending on the background of the individual students.

Course content

The aim of the programme is to facilitate students to acquire key practical skills in the ecological assessment of terrestrial and freshwater habitats, and ecosystems in order to meet a growing demand for ecological technicians skilled in areas of ecological data collection, analysis and reporting as well as areas of taxonomic relevance, and to ensure that this process is underpinned by a sound, scientific theoretical framework.
