Graduate Certificate in Creative Arts Education or the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) (or equivalent) Or BA Hons (normally 1st/2.1) or equivalent in a relevant discipline and more than 3 years teaching experience. Plus one day a week or equivalent of work in a teaching/supporting role at UCA or other Further Education and Skills and/or Higher Education establishment. GCSE English at grade C or above.In some instances the requirement for teaching experience may be provided through one day per week of voluntary teaching support for UCA, subject to interview with the relevant UCA course leader.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Arts Education is for staff in Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) institutions who have either completed the Graduate Certificate in Creative Arts Education or who have more than three years full time (equivalent) teaching experience.
The course is delivered between September and April on every other Wednesday (10 am - 5 pm) at the Epsom and Rochester campuses in rotation and applicants must be working in a teaching/supporting learning context for a minimum of one day a week across the year. However, those who successfully completed the Graduate Certificate in Creative Arts Education on the basis of one day per week of voluntary (unpaid) teaching placement with an appropriate course, may, subject to the approval of the Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Arts Education course leader and relevant subject course leader/department manager continue on that basis.
Key study topics include:
- Explores issues of learning and teaching (pedagogy) in creative arts disciplines
- Provides an opportunity to enquire into the pedagogy of creative arts disciplines through conducting a small scale research project and, through development of a portfolio of evidence, the opportunity to reflect on professional teaching/supporting learning practice.
