Course content


A one-year research degree, combining specialist and generic training to develop advanced skills towards doctoral study or social, public, private and third sector research in policy contexts.The MRes is recognised under the Economic & Social Research Council’s Scottish Doctoral Training Program, Sociology Pathway. The Diploma in Social Research, comprising of the four taught courses, also offers an intensive training which is recognised under the Scottish Government’s Postgraduate Awards Scheme (PSAS).

Courses include: Qualitative Research Methods in Politics and International Relations, Theories and Issues in Political Science and Ir., Quantitative Methods in Political Science and International Relations, Research Design Data and Presentation and your Dissertation
