A useful background Master's degree if you are interested in working in or with Latin American nations in either public sector or private industry. The degree covers all aspects to life, systems and processes, migration, industrial resources, security, gender related issues, and culture.
The MSc In Latin American Studies is the only taught programme in Scotland and one of the very few in the UK to cover both Latin American politics and Latin American culture. It is interdisciplinary with traditional and contemporary methodological approaches study Latin America. You debate the nature of international institutions, development/post-development, global political economy, culture and identity, citizenship and rights, history, and traditional and human security to give you an interdisciplinary knowledge of Latin America.

The programme is taught by specialists with knowledge of the region and its culture and it is designed to give you a grounding to pursue careers in media, human welfare, human rights, public sector, policy research, diplomacy, business, advocacy and other areas which require a degree of knowledge within a region.

Courses include: Culture and Society in Latin America, Latin America Security Conditions and Challenges, Terrorism and Counter Terrorism, Dimensions of Globalisation, Sex Gender Violence - Critical Approaches, Post Conflict Justice and Peacebuilding, Global Security Issues
