Course content

Summary

Anthropology lends itself to careers in museum and government work, universities and education organisations and other specialist organisations. If you are interested in anthropological research this programme will challenge you. You use a variety of research material (e.g. archival, visual, and museological) with training in ethnographic fieldwork research methods (e.g. participant observation, interviewing, recording).

After completion you can study a PhD in Social Anthropology, or become a trained researcher in the public or private sectors. We offer supervision in most areas of the discipline and we have particular strengths in our four principal research themes: Anthropology of the North, Environment and Perception, Creativity and Knowledge, and Religion, Belief and Practice.

Courses include: Reserach in Social Anthropology, Supervised Reading, Research Sklls, Scottish Training in Anthropological Research, Research in Social Anthropology, Research Design and Practice in Anthropology, Dissertation in Social Anthropology. Optional courses include: Reading Environmental Ethnography, Morality and Belief in Islam, Supervised Reading, Research Design and Practice in Anthropology, Culture and Society in Latin America, Roads: Mobility Movement Migration
