You should have a first or strong second-class bachelor’s honours degree or international equivalent.
To apply for this course, you should have an undergraduate degree in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, plant sciences, biomedical sciences, pharmacy, microbiology, agricultural science, medical laboratory technology or medical sciences.
We would also consider other degree subjects, providing there is sufficient relevant content with adequate grades achieved.
Your degree should have at least 50% biology units including plant related units, such as agriculture or botany.
We may make an offer based on a lower grade if you can provide evidence of your suitability for the degree.
Months of entry
Learn the fundamentals of the biology of plants and their molecules. Study the specialist area of industrial biotechnology.
You will gain a broad understanding of molecular plant sciences before specialising in a specific area. You’ll study the biology of plants at the molecular level.
You will focus on topics including mechanisms of microbial pathogenicity, cell and molecular biology of pollen-stigma recognition, signalling in flowering plants and genomics and gene networks. You’ll have access to facilities including a GM glasshouse and tissue culture for plant and mammalian cells.
