Entry requirements

  • For MA by Research programmes, entry to our programmes usually requires a good (normally a 2:1 or above) Honours degree, or an equivalent qualification if you were educated outside the UK.
  • Applicants for a PhD will also need to hold a Masters qualification at Merit level or above (or its international equivalent).

We offer promising Russian Studies candidates the opportunity to carry out research in one of the leading centres in the country for language, literature, history and culture.

Researchers working here are part of a stimulating research culture within the Department of Modern Languages and beyond, benefitting from special links to the Centre for Russian and East European Studies based in the College of Social Sciences. Between us we are able to offer an exceptionally wide range of expertise, and hence supervision opportunities, in particular on contemporary topics in cultural studies and social science.
