Entry requirements

You should hold an honours degree (or equivalent). You must also demonstrate that you have a significant role in teaching and/or facilitating learning, and are ready to undertake study at masters-level (HE7). You will be interviewed as part of the application process. If English is not your first language you will need a recognised English language qualification at the appropriate level for this course i.e. IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Course content

The postgraduate certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education aims to develop high quality teaching skills for the higher education sector. This professional development course brings together scholarship, professional practice and practitioner research as key aspects in the development of critical and reflective approaches to learning and teaching.

As a course member you will work within a community of enquiry to explore teaching and learning and engage in debate with other professionals from the HE sector. The programme will draw upon multi-disciplinary expertise from across the University and is based on an inclusive philosophy that welcomes many voices in our pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning.

On successful completion you will attain professional recognition with the Higher Education Academy (HEA), as well as meet the UK Professional Standards Framework.

The course includes a variety of teaching and learning approaches in order to ensure quality, breadth and to demonstrate different learning and teaching approaches.
