Course contentThe Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will give you a full understanding of the principles and practice of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
It has been developed for people who wish to practice using a cognitive behavioural approach in one or more of the following settings the helping or health professions, private practice, or management roles where working with people is the prime focus.
A strong basis of theoretical psychology underpins the course. This will ensure your practice-related learning is not separated from its primary academic base and give you a good understanding of where CBT techniques come from and potential developments in theory and practice.
You will study practical aspects of CBT such as basic principles and techniques and assessment and formulation. You will also consider wider issues such as the evaluation of literature, models and therapeutic practice, research methods, evidence based-practice, professional issues and ethical practice. Over the course of your studies you will gain 200 hours experience of working with clients in a clinical setting through supervised clinical practice placements arranged on an individual basis by you.
