Course content

Many professionals working in education or training are effectively researching their work context to develop their own and others understanding, and thereby improve their effectiveness. The Institute for Educational Cybernetics recognises that this often leads to outstanding results and can be the basis for doctorate-level awards.

The MPhil/PhD by Published Work or Practice programmes will support you in structuring your work-based research more formally, and turning it into a number of academic publications or a portfolio, thereby acknowledging your work at the highest level. The programmes are designed so you don't have to leave work and can be completed in as little as three years.

You will be supported by a first supervisor, who will offer specialised guidance, and a second supervisor, who will provide a more general overview of your studies. Depending on your qualifications and experience you may register for an MPhil with the option to progress to a PhD or register for the PhD directly.

The Institute for Educational Cybernetics has a diverse set of research interests focussing on educational organisation and the use and development of learning technologies for schools, colleges and universities, as well as business and commerce.
