Entry requirements

First degree, not necessarily in business and management, from an approved university, or an acceptable professional qualification. Usual entry requirement is equivalent to a UK degree minimum 2:2 (Honours). Candidates whose first language is not English will normally have to have passed an approved test in English before admission. We require an overall IELTS score of 6.5 (with minimum 5.5 in each section), or alternatively, 96 in the Internet-Based TOEFL test.

This degree programme, new for 2012, will appeal to students from a range of backgrounds seeking to develop the specialist knowledge and skills in marketing and strategy that would enable them to pursue appropriate marketing careers in domestic or international organisations.

The programme is suitable for students with or without prior experience of business, marketing or management subject areas. As such, this MSc is designed for those who want to specialize in marketing and strategy in order to change career direction, get started in a specific career or boost an existing career. The programme is aimed at both recent graduates and those with a first degree and work experience. The programme delivers many opportunities to gain practical skills in marketing and strategic marketing through the use of module assignments, case studies, industry speakers and consulting projects.

The programme takes a strategic perspective, covering not only modules such as marketing strategy and strategic management, but also areas likely to be of major strategic concern to organisations (Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Corporate Social Responsibility). In addition to more strategic modules, the programme provides a good grounding in core marketing module areas such as consumer behaviour, market research and marketing communications.

Our programme has been designed specifically to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to pursue a career in marketing, whether that means working with a large multi-national, a smaller company or even your own business. The programme specifically allows graduates to pursue careers in a number of areas including market research, advertising and communications, consultancy, or general marketing.
