Course content

The university is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading institutions for design history and visual arts studies. The university's Design History Research Centre houses various archival collections of national and international significance including the Design Council Archives, the FHK Henrion Archive and Research Library and James Gardner Archive.

Department specialisms

History of Design and the Decorative Arts, Dress and Textile History; Art Theory and Practice, Early British Cinema and Documentary Film, Social and Political Theory.
