The usual entry requirement for MA applicants is to have completed a BA Honours degree in a related discipline, a recognised equivalent qualification or professional experience. Admission is subject to interview with a portfolio of recent work (in an appropriate discipline) plus a 600 word proposal for a potential project. All students applying before June will be interviewed. Applicants are encouraged to attend Open Days during the spring term. Students accepted on to the course should have sufficient experience and familiarity with the technical skills necessary to fulfil their projects.

The programme is conceived and designed primarily to support individual projects that develop an informed critical and imaginative response to the serial nature of the subject. Students come from all art and design disciplines and are concerned with investigating sequence and storytelling through a variety of forms, which may include illustrated books, graphic novels, stage and exhibition design, animation, film, book arts and narrative textiles. Students will propose and undertake practical projects that are supported through individual tutorials, seminars, work-in-progress presentations and a wide range of weekly lectures. All key course events are scheduled on Wednesdays.
