Individual offers may vary. GCSE (minimum grade C) in at least five subject including English language, mathematics and science. Degree and/or experience: good honours degree (normally 2.2 minimum) plus some relevant classroom experience. Applicants from minority ethnic and other groups under-represented in the profession (including men in primary teaching) are particularly welcome. Suitable candidates will be interviewed. All offers of places are subject to a satisfactory health check and a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) enhanced disclosure check. For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.5 overall and 6 in writing or equivalent qualification.
Months of entry
This course prepares you to teach in a Foundation Stage/ Key Stage 1 setting (3-7 years) and will reflect the early years and primary curriculum. You will gain thorough knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, and learn how to use and adapt them to meet the varying needs of the youngest learners. The focus of the course is split between university-based studies and two block school placements, so you will develop both the theoretical knowledge and practical experience required for a successful career in teaching.
