Entry requirements

Applicants must hold/achieve an upper second-class degree (or international equivalent) in a numerate physical science or engineering discipline. Candidates with a lower class of degree, equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience may be admitted if they can demonstrate their potential for higher degree work.

Unfortunately, applicants with an engineering background in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil and Automation Engineering will not be considered suitable for this programme.

Course content

On this course you’ll gain a deep understanding of the design, fabrication and use of the next generation of integrated circuits, sub-systems and systems that combine optics, electronics and quantum engineering for applications in communications, computing, sensing, and healthcare.

You’ll be based in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, one of the leading research-intensive departments in the UK with strong links to the Smart Internet Lab at the University of Bristol, a hub for internet research addressing grand societal and industrial challenges.
