Course content

The MA Human Resource Management/Development programme is intended as a standalone course for students who have completed the University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management/Development; are Chartered Members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) (achieved through the Education route) or have completed an Advanced level CIPD accredited programme.

This course is largely by self-directed study. You will need to complete a research methods module and a dissertation. The strength of our postgraduate course lies in its flexible delivery and developing critical thinking skills for practical application. Through the dissertation and our teaching input we provide a high level of intellectual stimulus and help students to explore linkages between theoretical constructs and practical workplace application.

Depending upon your dissertation topic you may graduate with either an MA in Human Resource Management (HRM) or an MA in Human Resource Development (HRD). The course is of value both to practicing HRM or HRD professionals and also to those who feel that people management will be a major element of their managerial career.
