Applicants should hold a 2:2 degree or equivalent professional experience or learning in a related field.

Applications from all candidates will be considered on their merits in the light of the nature and scope of the programme.

Course content

On our International Business and Management course you’ll gain the key skills, knowledge and competences to be successful in the world of international business. Through the master’s dissertation you’ll personalise your programme to reflect your interests and career aspirations.

This course is being reapproved under the University’s normal cycle of review. As such, the course structure and content may be changed to enable the University to deliver a better quality of educational experience to students.

You’ll study the practice of international management, at the operational and strategic levels, and how international labour markets operate as well as developments in practices associated with employment relations.

You’ll also explore marketing practice, accounting and financial issues, the problems faced by multi-nationals, and look at different types of analysis of international business environments.

What you'll do

• You’ll spend two semesters gaining a thorough grounding in operational and strategic management and the main business functions of international business.
• Finally, during semesters two and three, you’ll complete a master’s dissertation on an approved topic within the area of international business and management.
• International business management disciplines are central to this course, which aims to provide a rigorous postgraduate business and management education.

Learning and assessment

The programme reflects the University's commitment to active education and you’ll benefit from this from day one.

It begins with a busy induction week where you’ll be meeting the staff team and fellow students, and exploring the learning resources. You’ll also be taking part in a research symposium led by the Institute of International Business. You’ll be expected to discuss and debate the key issues, both in the subject itself and in the dynamic world of international business.

Expect many opportunities to examine what is actually happening in the business world around you as you progress through the programme.

Within each module the assessment methods are designed to contribute to your continuing development - giving feedback on a regular basis, identifying opportunities for improvement, and providing periodic evaluations of progress.

You get to study in the Business School's state-of-the-art Greenbank and Brook Buildings with its comprehensive range of study, learning and social facilities including a postgraduate study room, cybercafé and easy access to PC workstation rooms.

The Library and Information Service (LIS) is where you’ll find books, journals, and other media as well as study facilities, including bookable rooms for group use. The LIS also provides access to electronic journals and electronic information services, via the University's PC network, while document delivery services make it possible to get hold of published texts which are not in our collections.
