The MSc Accounting (ACCA) is designed for professionals working in the business, accountancy and finance sectors. The programme is designed to enable students to develop their understanding of the principles and practice of accounting and financial management, the context in which they operate and how they are managed. They will learn the applied skills involved in financial reporting and financial management as well as wider management issues such as corporate and social responsibility, risk & business strategy, financial performance and taxation and auditing. The course includes a module on research methods that will support their learning by providing an understanding of a range of research tools and analytical techniques, as well as enhancing critical and investigative skills which can be applied in your professional practice. They will also be required to submit a dissertation for which they will carry out a substantial piece of research on an accountancy or financial management issue. This will enable them to demonstrate their critical understanding of the subject and their ability to carry out sustained independent study.
