Have you ever wondered: Why are some people more creative than others are. What influences encourage creativity? Is it possible to teach creativity? This type of questioning drives the curiosity behind the MA in Creative Thinking.
The course is intended for aspiring researchers who want to develop a specialised interest in Creative Thinking without the necessity of on-campus attendance. Ultimately, the MA is about creating post graduates who can interrogate, and eventually add to, research on Creative Thinking (were particularly interested in research related to the Creative Industries). If that's your aspiration also, then read on.
The first module introduces you to Creative Thinking literature, seminal works in the area, and the techniques of e-learning used by the course. This module develops the skills of reporting on, and enhancing your understanding of, major developments within creativity research to gives you a broad overview of Creative Thinking.
The next module examines key aspects and issues found in Creative Thinking. Moreover, the impact of research methodology on the validity and reliability of research findings is also explored in this module. This culminates in a critical look at a specialized aspect of Creative Thinking, where you begin to argue for, and comment on, the merits and weakness of different schools of thought on a specialised aspect of Creative Thinking: for example, methods for the assessment creative thinking.
The final group of modules develops your own specialized field and interest. This is the Dissertation Project in Creative Thinking. Here you will have the opportunity to undertake a sustained investigation into a clearly identified area of interest relevant to your own interest in Creative Thinking.
